What’s the Best Investment when Heading into a Recession?

Making sound investments is always important and this is the case as inflation rises and we are all coping with rising prices. It’s difficult to know exactly what to do in these tough times of uncertainty in the economy. According to Warren Buffet who is considered one of the best investors of all time, he recently provided some helpful tips on what to currently invest in.

Invest in yourself

This may be a bit surprising! At a shareholder meeting in 2022, Buffet urged listeners to invest in themselves, arguing this is the best course of action when inflation is surging. “The best investment by far is anything that develops yourself, and it’s not taxed at all”, Buffet said.

Buffet suggests developing your skills for one simple reason. “Whatever abilities you have can’t be taken away from you. They can’t be inflated away from you.” This may seem frightening, but look at what you feel your weaknesses are, and do it now. Don’t put it off.

The definition of investing in yourself is the practice of making yourself into a more experienced, well-rounded person through different tasks, goals, and achievements.

If you want to further your education it’s easier than ever to find online courses, professional developmental groups, and certificate programs that can help you develop your skills and turn these weaknesses into talents. Investing in yourself is valuable for self-development and gaining knowledge and skills. You may see improvements in your productivity and happiness. This will benefit you professionally and personally and gain new skills along with creating positive habits.

8 ways to invest in yourself

#1 Set goals that can help you reach what you want to accomplish.

Make a list of attainable goals. This may make you more likely to achieve them. Setting goals can also help you visualize what you want and process the steps needed to achieve those goals.

#2 Be confident.

Confidence is a quality that can make you more approachable. Identifying the things you are good at can help you excel.

#3 Read more

Reading more can enrich the mind. Whether it’s recreational or educational reading, it can help energize your thoughts. Consider 20-30 minutes of reading a day.

#4 Be creative

Being creative comes in different forms like making art, writing, or playing and listening to music. This can make you a better thinker, which can help in problem solving.

#5 Keep a journal

Keeping a journal can help you put what you’re thinking or something you may be going through into words. Journals are a great way to keep important dates. You can purchase a journal to fit your needs. Write a little each day.

#6 Eat healthy

Eating healthy fuels your mind and body, which in turn can help you in being more productive and feel more energetic.

#7 Stay active

Working out can increase your energy levels, strength and productivity level. Exercising can help with moods and help you to feel more confident. Any amount you can do will make you feel better.

These are just a handful of ways to invest in yourself. Track your results to see your accomplishments. Just as we invest to generate financial growth, we can invest in ourselves and it will pay off in the months ahead.
